About This Spot

Step inside The Hub Bar, and you’re immediately wrapped in a comfortable, unpretentious spirit that feels like stumbling upon a long-time friend’s well-lived-in basement. Nestled quietly on a corner of North Franklin Street in Tampa’s downtown, this spot hums with the approachable energy of a classic dive bar, where vintage arcade machines flicker softly beneath strings of Christmas lights and old band posters tell stories of local nights gone by.

The pace here is easygoing yet lively — a gathering place where the conversations ebb and flow like the strong, straightforward drinks that define the evening. The bartenders carry a quiet confidence, striking a balance between witty exchanges and attentive service, making you feel both at home and part of a shared local rhythm. It’s a place where the crowd is as much a part of the vibe as the well-worn bar stools and the assortment of spirits lining the walls.

The drink selection embodies that relaxed authenticity, with familiar favorites like a crisp Vodka Cranberry or a well-poured Margarita alongside more nostalgic pours, all served with a straightforward no-nonsense approach. The menu’s simplicity — think of the comfort found in a hearty Mexican Soup Du Jour or the nostalgia in a Birthday Cake cocktail — matches the warm, inviting atmosphere and lets the human moments take center stage.

Despite its well-loved, vintage charm, The Hub Bar maintains a clean and welcoming setting, inviting an eclectic mix of patrons to linger over conversations and tunes from live music nights. Whether you’re stopping by after a game or simply seeking a corner to watch the world drift by, this is the kind of place where time feels a little slower, friendships form a little easier, and every visit adds a new story to an already rich local tapestry.

If you're looking for a classic dive bar, look no further. Cash only. Stiff drinks. Great service. The place is definitely dated but it was not dirty like a lot of other divey spots. The only thing missing that I expected to find was a cigarette machine.

Definitely a historic landmark in Tampa. Living in Tampa, for the past 32 years, I was able to visit the original location quite a bit through the mid to late ‘90s. It still has the same gritty feel, colorful, but friendly bartenders, and eclectic patrons. Drinks start out strong and only get stronger the better you tip. Be aware, it is cash only.

Imagine having a cocktail in your best friends basement circa 1982, that’s what this bar feels like. Vintage arcade games, Christmas lights hanging over old band posters, witty bartenders and a relaxed vibe. The drinks are strong and bathrooms are clean enough

The hub is a corner hole in the wall bar with character, and characters. Went there after a lightning game and hung out. Had a great time with the people there. Female bartender was awesome.

This is one of my favorite Tampa staples, since I went to UT. They make The Best cocktails and you can't beat their prices! If you’re downtown, check them out Y'all!!
